looking for a new graphics card

i have recently discovered that a lot of the games coming out over the next year require direct X 11

i currently have a 5 year old GTX 295 that despite its age is still pretty beastly (i tested it against my friends 2gb 670 and they were mostly at neck and neck)

what should i get as an upgrade?
i'm looking at a 670 (what benefits would a 4gb version give me over a 2gb one?)
or a 680
on the amd front i have no idea how the numbering works i'm guessing that the 7970 is currently the best and the 7950 is just below that

As the HD7970 is cheaper than the GTX670 (and has a better cooler than the £292 GTX670), I'd say get the 7970.

rumour has it that they will be out around the backend of this year
