Hello Everyone,
I have an original HP MediaSmart server running classic Windows Home Server. Microsoft has ended security updates for it, and I'm also beginning to experience hard lockups on it and need to transition to something else. I have been having a very hard time trying to find an affordable, suitable replacement. Could someone a little more knowledgeable point me in the right direction? I'm looking for:

  • ■24/7 operation
■expandable disks similar to Home Server disk manager (just pop in a disk and ■it adds it to your total storage)
■full data redundancy. If one disk fails data must remain intact.
■UPnP streaming with on-the-fly transcoding. FLAC transcoding required.
    ■Home network PC backup

The new Windows Home Server version took out the disk manager and won't allow you to grow the array anymore, plus Microsoft stated there will be no more versions of Windows Home Server. I'll move in that direction if I have to, but thought there might already be a product on the market that can do what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your help.

If what I want doesn't exist in a prebuilt NAS or similar device, my alternate plan is to make my own using something like this for hardware (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859107052), install Linux on it and use a utility like AMANDA (http://www.amanda.org/) to back up my clients. I'll be stuck with traditional RAID, but I can live with that I guess...
