I have been running on this computer, in this configuration, without issues, since August of 2012. Yesterday, due to an issue with Tomb Raider, I updated to the latest driver (314.07) to try and solve the issue. Things kept getting worse. I tried to new Beta driver (but it wouldn't install), the reverted back to my original driver (301.42) and then upgrading again, etc.
Now, all of my games crap out, even a simple graphical game like Minecraft (low FPS, then unplayable). I have tried Dishonored and Dragon Age 2 as well. They start out ok, but within 5 minutes, they totally degrade and I end up having to quit the game. When the game finally shuts down, my browser screens are all black, by the way, in case that's important.
I am hoping there is a way that I can just start over and make sure that I haven't introduced some sort of weird upgrade issue. I'd like to go back to the defaults that were in place last August, if possible. Doing a "clean install" of the old 301.42 driver using NVidia's installation doesn't seem to fix the problem.
The only other new thing I introduced was nvidiainspector. I was clicking on some of the overclock settings in that app, and I am wondering if somehow it did something to permanently underclock or overclock the card. Since it's not really an "installed" app, I don't know how to uninstall or reverse what it did.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
PS: I have some data logs from GPU-Z but I don't know how to attach them ...
