Hello everyone,
I have been suffering ridiculously slow USB transfer speeds since buying my computer last September.
I have 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 front & 2 back) I also have an Intenso 320GB USB 2.0 external HDD.
When transferring single movie size files to the drive it's usually quite quick (Around 1 minute) although sometimes it decides to take around 20 minutes! The transfer speed seems to start around 60mb/s but instantly starts dropping which is an extreme annoyance with big files. When trying to transfer big files of 1GB+ it can take hours with the speed dropping all the way down to 1.2mb/s I was trying to transfer 25GB of files and the estimated time was FOUR DAYS, then when trying to do 4GB it was going to take over an hour.
I have tried optimizing the drive for speed but it doesn't seem to change anything.
I'm using Win 7 64-bit and I have an ASUS M5A78L-M LX Motherboard.
My old comp with Vista 32-bit was lighting quick with the same HDD.
Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong or how I can fix it?
Thank you.
