  • PC SPECS
    CPU : i5 2500K 3.30ghz ( its not overclocked)
    GPU : Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 1024mb DDR5
PSU : COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS-460-PMSR-A3 460W
    MB : Asus P8Z68 V-pro Gen3
    RAM: Corsair XMS 8GB DDR3 RAM - PC10666, 1333MHz, 2x 4GB
What im really wondering is if the graphics will be better than ps3 while maintaining smooth gameplay. My psu only has a four pin conection for the cpu instead of 8 which i read was doable with the 95w cpu and no OC. I dont want to upgrade atm especially since im pretty much maxed out as far as power supply will allow and cant afford to upgrade both and get game. I read that almost all ps3 issues have been fixed so I could go that route easily. Im not really going to be be running mods i dont think. Could use some seasoned advice cause this is also my first pc/minor gaming build.

Your build isn't that bad only the graphic card is the weak point. you must at least have gtx 550 ti / hd 7750 then you will be able to play in med settings. But its graphics in med settings are still better than in PS3. So get it for pc

Definitely get it for the PC. Aside from being able to run it at a higher graphics setting than the PS3 can handle, you will also have access to the many excellent mods that can add so much more playing time to the game and enhance your experience.

PC hands down. You have a great processor so just get one of the cards featured on toms hardware each month depending on your budget. Not only you will get better graphics, access to tons of mods including must bug fixing ones, but also play the game with a better frame rate. PS3 can only show 720p and have a max of 30fps in 99% of its games. I bought skyrim for ps3 brand new and only played there for around 2-3 hours. Even with the latest stability patches the game crashed several times, and my eyes were hurting me from all the frame choppiness I was seeing.
To play skyrim: PC > XBOX 360 > nes, snes, genesis, atari 2600, etc ... (if made there) > ps3.

There will always be debate over console or Pc , which is better. The thing with a Pc is the controls that are available by using the keyboard and mouse. A game controller can only do so much. The visual aspect of the Pc vs Ps3 is that with a Pc you can always get better visuals by upgrading the video card which you can't do with a console game , Plus the display is better to begin with when using a Pc because your using a computer monitor which will give you a much better picture then a tv screen.

Aweome, thank you everyone for all of your facts and opinions. I decided a day after posting to buy it on pc. To my suprise the game defaulted me to high setting. The graphics look amazing compared to console. I got FRAPS and seems the lowest I go on these settins so far is 40 fps, according to research and post in this thread ps3 stays at 30 mostly. my average is around 45 50 usually only dropping 40 in towns. but im only lvl 9 so dunno whats instore as far as future heavy gpu consumption scenarios go. My temps seem to stay close to 70 c. Hope this info can help others.

You made the right decision. Enjoy your game and don't forget to check out some of the cool mods, that's the other benefit of owning the PC version.

I run Skyrim on high settings (possibly even max) with my GTX 260, which is on the same level as 550 ti/7750. 450 GTS, which is one step below those cards, is fine.

Im not sure about how nvidia cards work with skyrim, but for amd cards it doesnt matter if one plays with an entry 6670 and then with 7950. The game performs the same just using the cpu, barely using the gpu.
