Hey everyone. I'm having somewhat of a problem. I have an AMD Phenom 2 X4 955. Stock speed is 3.2ghz. I've always ran it at 3.6 or so on my old board, an Asus M3A76-CM. I got a new gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 in January with the FA bios version. I made a thread on here about the bios being forgetful not holding an overclock, and eventually resolved it with the FB bios version. (I changed the battery before the update to no avail.) I'am now currently on the FC bios version. And now every once and a while on power-up or waking from sleep, only Core #0 shows the correct speed. All the others show the base clock of 3.2. I honestly cant remember if this was happening on the FB version or not. Its kind of annoying, and I've found that I can resolve it using AMD overdrive by adjusting the multiplier slider up a notch and back to where it was and hitting apply. Could it be the bios version, the processor, or just a bad mobo in general? If it is the mobo, is it something worth doing rma on or not?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.8 currently
Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
G.Skill 8gb (4x2) 1600 mhz
Sapphire hd6850
Thermaltake 600w psu.

That my friend is quite the odd one. I'd personally just reset the bios with the clear cmos switch/jumper. Then eliminate all of the overclocking software in windows, and then do the clearing of the cmos again. Then I'd try the overclock in the bios and see if it doesn't act normal. I've seen where software will override bios settings and just be a pain in the butt. That's one of the only ideas I have for you my friend.

Hope it helps!

I tried deleting AMD overdrive, resetting the bios rolling back to an earlier bios and nothing is working. In the bios the cpu speed always says 3.8 as thats my current speed setting. But when I go in to windows and open core temp that seems to be when i get the problem. I'm going back and forth woth Gigabyte's tech support and they even gave me a beta bios version to try and to no avail the problem still persistss. Hoping my processor isnt going bad or something.

you have to go into safe mode to get rid of overdrive. then reset bios. then dont re install overdrive. over clock from the bios.

I only use Overdrive as a monitoring utility. And also to fix my problem when it occurs. Ive always done my overclocking from the bios. I'll try this way though and see what happens.

I went in to safe mode and tried to delete overdrive. That didnt work and thing popped up to the effect of that it cant be removed because it wasnt installed correctly. So i just deleted it in regular mode and restarted. MY cores are all the same speed for now, but this wasnt a everyday or every boot occurance. we'll see what happens. I have an fx 8350 in mail to me anyways.
