Hi Guys
I have a Thinkpad X41 laptop, but the problem is even with a fresh format of XP, it still runs like a dog

I am wondering if any of you guys know of any ways I can optimise windows to make it run better rather than it grinding to a halt if I open an internet browser and then try and play some music in vlc.

Here is what I have done so far
1. I use Advanced System Care to keep it slightly more optimized
2. I have disabled some of the unnecessary programs like remote control in admin tools
3. I have gone through msconfig and done things like reduce load time of start menu and shutdown time of apps, stopped indexing of files
4. installed all the latest drivers
5. I am using NOD32 antivirus because I heard it uses the least resouces (is this true?)

It doesnt help that when it is idle my ram useage is 65%, when i do run programs i can max out my ram and cpu clocks just doing simple things like one too many browser tabs open.

Also do i need to have real time protection on the antivirus or can i take that off.

Anyway Thanks for any help
