Well gosh, I just purchased dual 7950s and have a spare 6970 2gb laying totally unused. I think my mother board and case can fit all three gpus in, and will upgrade the psu if needed, but is this possible to run all three?

I hear borderlands 2 has a mod that lets you designate one gpu for physics if its an ati radeon. So, if my 7950s are in crossfire, can the 6970 be the single gpu for physics? Any advice would be awesome. I really dont want to sell it, but it seems left out and the absurdity of three gpus is too tantalizing to not at least show interest in.

Is it possible to use all 3? If your PSU can handle it yes. Is it possible to crossfire (trifire) all 3? No.

No idea about the Borderlands thing, though a quick Google search leads me to believe it is.

So how would i start things? What exactly do I need. Btw I am only using one large 50 inch monitor. No dual eyefinity type thing.

Well ... AMD recommends at least a 750w PSU for crossfired 7950s ... I would think you'd want at least a 900w if you added in the 6970, but that's just a guess.

Obviously you'd need a motherboard with three PCIE slots, preferably all remaining at or above 8x with three cards
Crossfire bridge(s) for the 7950s
Enough PCIE power cables from the PSU to power all three cards. Do your homework when picking out a PSU

From a hardware standpoint, that should do it. The rest would be enabling the hybrid PhysX and setting it to the 6970. My first Google search landed at the following link which seemed to have some good information, but I don't own Borderlands 2 so I don't know how spot on it is.

what will cause headaches? Sorry, I'm not really tech savy with gpus. Do I NEED an Nvidia card for it, or can I use one of the new 7950 cards I am getting for that. Thats what I was curious about, some people talk about using the ATI cards for it. Apparently, the cpu can handle the Physx for the game and I run an i7 rig, so...idk.
