I have been wanting to build a HTPC for watching movies and playing games like CoD, Sports Games, BF3, etc. I was wondering what my budget would be for a quality htpc that can run these games at a smooth rate. I would be willing to pay around $500 to $800.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 $52 after promo code
http://www.directron.com/7106.html (heavy duty and inexpensive; only place you'll find it since it's discontinued; plenty of space for atx boards) $53 shipped by ground
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130620 $112 after rebate shipped
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113291 $100 after promo code
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769 $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-171-645&IsVirtualParent=1 $70 (I use only ssd's now; regular drives are too slow)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 ($38 after rebate and promo code; must register to use promo codes)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125433 ($86 after rebate shipped)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416550 $100

total: about $651 after rebates and promo codes

The case in this build is a major POS, I had one and wound up swapping it for my HAF 912, much better. I'd second paying more for the Node 605.

If you don't need a htpc case, i recommend this :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($184.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($76.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($47.98 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Galaxy GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card ($260.91 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($15.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $766.83
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Get the case also in ncix us, instead of waiting for the rebate in newegg(it's also at 49.99$ without it, and since you'll buy the hdd there, you get free shipping with more than 100$ in the cart).
If you want a matx build, this will do : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JVdZ
