When I come to the forum, my sign in is not 'remembered' like it used to be. Although I could explain it as a cookie problem or browser issue, I never had any issue before the transition to the new format.

When I click Sign In (normal, not with Facebook or anything), I put in my UN and PASS, when I click Sign In, I get presented with this on the next page:

{"success":true,"errors":[],"sfAction":"signin","ssoBeaconUrl":"http:\/\/sso-en.bestofmedia.com\/account\/setcookie?sessionId=f45a690108b48388422e8b8d799e020e:be028bf55dffaedc28694d25aa3765df910a97dc&userId=339405:1365922631:1:63a396c1ee5d8499caef6678bd361a61"}

Then I'm able to back button or click the Forum link at the top and scottiemedic shows up top right (where it's supposed to be) and I'm able to go about, business as usual. Not sure if this has been reported, with so many new quirks, I'm sure it will work out, just wanted to tell someone and determine if it's on my end, your end or a combo of both, or browser related.

I use the latest release channel build of Firefox (19.0.2), running Ad Block Plus, ABP Pop Up addon and Ghostery plugins. I have not tried to disable them (and hope I wouldn't have to).
The problem never presents with IE 9 (I originally stopped using it due to pop ups not being blocked well enough on any site including Toms) on an up to date Win 7 Pro SP1, and those are the only 2 browsers I've tried/use.

If there is any additional info I can give, please let me know.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with sign-in on the new platform. There's a few things we need to check on here to fix the issue you are encountering.

Firstly, clear your cache and cookies. There might well be some stored stuff that's causing an issue. Try logging in then. If that generates the same issue, next, try loading the site fresh in Firefox safe mode. If the problem goes away, it could be a conflict with one of your plugins.

Next, could you confirm your general location for me? Your profile says you are situated in Oregon. However, you appear to be using the .co.uk site instead of the .com site. Again, this could be an issue with redirection or browser cache. Let me know?

Thanks!

Hi SCOTTIE :)

I had a similar problem (with FF 19)... try this....

Search 7 for HOSTS file in Windows System...

RENAME it to HOSTS.OLD

RESTART computer...then try again....

All the best Brett :)

I haven't gotten back to my desktop, but it must be on my end, I'll try the cache clearing, then the HOSTS file rename, but I'm running the same setup on my laptop and it seems to be working fine with FF 19.0.2 (syncing with my desktop).

As for the .co.uk, I didn't even notice that until I got email notification from Tom's the jp had responded, so hopefully that will work itself out too as my laptop is on .com as I type (haven't tried signing out and signing back in, that will be after I know my desktop is working so I CAN get back in, I might go into DTs without my daily Tom's fix!!)

Thanks guys, I'll get the cat loaded to get rid of the rodent in my box :-D

The .co.uk thing is deffinetly browser related since I was using IE10 and getting .co.uk and then switched to Chrome and got the .com site. Even switching back and clearing everything several times did not work.

Is this section somehow connected to Windows 7 ? I'm seeing a Windows badge under Brett and myself.

I am NOT a happy bunny...

That's a tad strange. I'll inquire about the badge thing.

I do agree to the badge appearing as you post in a certian section and it shows your badge status there and that it changes from section to section so your not stuck with it like when you select it as your status. I guess there's no badge for forum feed back so they stuck the Windows 7 badge there.
Like today when I posted in the cpu section the cpu badge showed and then in overclocking there was actually two badges showing.
There does seem to be a doubbling of badges though as I see that there are two badges for cpu , systems , motherboards , storage , overclocking , one legacy and one new.

Hi :)

Although I appreciate the fact that "someone" think this is a good idea.... I do NOT...

I DELIBERATELY chose to not have one of these silly badges, and assumed I have the right to my choice....

If they want to make a badge that says MASTER in it fine...if not... please do NOT force them onto me...

All the best Brett :)

Figured it out. The reason Windows 7 badges are showing up here? It's because "Windows 7" is tagged. Awesome - working as intended!

Hmmmm.... now there's a laptop tag.

Hi Joe :)

I think not lol...

Think about it logically (and I tested this).. as soon as other people add OTHER TAGS for other sections, then THIS POST will GROW ENORMOUSLY as I have 22 badges ...

So EVERY ONE of my 14,000 posts quadruples in size ???

Once that happens to a lot of people, your servers had better be HUGE lol... and it WILL slow down page LOADS drastically , as they are images with embedded links , not text...

I think this one need rethinking ....

All the best Brett :)

It seems to be a problem with Ghostery 2.9.2 for FF 19. ABP and Pop Up Addon are 'Tom's Compliant', but as soon as I enable Ghostery, either by itself or with all other Addons, it gives the error. Emptying cache, cookies, etc didn't help. I'll see what Options need to be changed in case others in the Forum have the same problem now or in the future... Stand By.

Apparently all you have to do is 'Whitelist' Tom's under Ghostery. You can still disable all the trackers and it doesn't seem to make a difference if they are blocked or allowed (if there are some you need like Facebook connect). Easy enough fix...

Thanks for letting us know that you narrowed it down! Will take this off the bug list.
