Over the summer I plan to extend my knowledge in Information Systems. Im currently enrolled in a CIS (Computer Information Systems) program and I have extensive knowledge in XHTML, but I want to begin learning HTML5. Also, I plan on using Java as a basis for game programming. Any resources that could ultimately help me with my goals?

I would start by learning HTML though any tutorial you can find by searching.

Then, move to JavaScript to understand how this combines with HTML.

Java on the other hand, is a lot more complex. There are plenty of tutorials out there, but I suggest starting to work on the above languages first.

I agree with tigerg, starting HTML as a base, then going over to HTML5.

The best way of learning any coding language is just doing it, learning the theory, coding small prototypes and advance your knowledge with practical tasks
