CPU Running at idle Clock speeds?

I've been running a few benchmarks on 3D Mark Vantage / 11 and such and my CPU always seems to be at 1596Mhz Clock speed whilst every over i7 2600k result show the actual speed. Mine should be overclocked to 4.4 which is what the BIOS and Cpu-z show. Is this just a bug in 3d mark?

It could be that the CPU is not needed to go above that frequency on the task that you are doing. I recommend getting Core Temp, which gives you a live CPU Frequency, and watching it while running a Prime95 CPU Burn Test. Hope this helps!

I've found that 3D Mark Vantage will sometimes report the wrong specs. I'm not sure why that happens. It has happened to me too. Set Windows to "High Performance" mode and run it again. H.P. mode will usually override Speedstep and C1E if that is the problem.

Thanks for the replies. Core temp and everything shows it running at 4400mhz so i guess its just a little mbut with 3dMark. Appreciate it guys.
