Will a 7970 Fit in my Bitfenix Merc Alpha?

Yeh sure just make sure a hard drive isn't installed right next to it and it will fit fine, depending on which brand the 7970 is, some might fit with a hard drive next to it.
For your information:
Maximum graphics card length is 32cm(12.6 inches) without a hard drive installed next to it and 27cm(10.6 inches) with a hard drive installed next to it.

The HD 7970 averages around 26-28cm so it will definitely fit in your case, if you have a hard drive installed on the same level with the card you may have to place it in a different slot, depending on brand but either way it will definitely fit.
