  1. Do you want to keep the existing data? I would recommend reformatting the drive and reinstalling the OS to circumvent any issues with the registry and drivers. Other than that, you should be able to use the existing drive.

i dont really care about my old data but how do i reformat my old Hard drive? will it automatically reformat when i boot my new build pc? or do i have to do something complicated ?
  3. you will NOT be able to just plug the drive in and boot from it

The drivers will be wrong so it just wont happen . The only way is a fresh install of windows which will nuke all the data already on the disk

so what im gonna do is plug the HDD and Install the OS even though theres a files in it and it will automatically erase old data from my old hd? sorry im new in building a pc i dont quit understand about these things
  5. Plug everything in , start the computer and go in to the BIOS .

You need to set the dvd drive as the first boot device
Put the windows dvd in the drive and restart using the power or rest button

The BIOS will boot from the windows DVD and then you follow the prompts .
It will erase and format the old hard drive
