I'm building my first computer and I'm still not quite comfortable when it comes to PSUs my build so far is:
AMD FX-8350 (plan on eventually overclocking to 5ghz) ~$180 after tax
Zotac GeForce GTX 570 (possible overclock/SLI later) ~$160 after tax+rebate
ASRock MB-970EX4 $90
GeIL EVO Veloce Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 $95
Past that I was planning on building it into an aluminum briefcase for portability with enough cooling to permit doing so and using a basic HDD I have until I add an SSD. The main thing that leaves is the PSU which I am a bit confused about. I want a fairly cheap one, ideally around $50 and it looks like I probably want 700+ watts out of it. But I also don't want it to fry my computer(which I was told a $20 diablotek could do). I have some prospects lined up but I really don't know much about these. This is what I have:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/407833/ZU-700B_700W_...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
and this one is a bit out of my price range but I can stretch there if necessary

I'd consider all those except the XFX to be candidates for explosions.

One of these would do well though, if you aren't SLIing:

I'd suggest getting a newer GPU though - they are a lot more efficient.

Are you sure you need 16GB RAM? 8GB is enough for a gaming build.

you want to OC your CPU and GPU (you also picked two in-efficient power parts) on a $50 PSU. good luck with your future spark show and paper weight

get a corsair CX600 off newegg $69 - $12 instant rebate = $57 out the door with free shipping plus another $20 in a rebate card. drop your CPU to an FX-6 in needed for budget reasons, you won't notice any real world difference if you OC it, plus its less demanding in power.

In response to both of you, I can go up in budget if necessary, I wanted 16 gigs of ram and that CPU so I can multitask, run minecraft servers in the background and possibly live stream gaming. I recently found this one endorsed by this site: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Would this one be a good candidate or should i up my budget further? The XFX is still a possibility because my budget is flexible, I just didn't know the PSU would be a significant cost of the build until recently.(Recently being yesterday after I purchased all the other parts unfortunately)

Alright, thank you very much for your help guys, as I said I'm very new at this and even with the slightly more expensive PSU I'm still just under my total budget I set aside for the computer. You guys were all a big help(this forum in general was as well). If/when I do this again I'll be sure to allot a little more for the PSU as the first time around I underestimated it's importance. Thank you all again.
P.S. I can't seem to find a "Best answer" or "Solved" button, sorry I'm a bit new to this forum, does an admin close the thread or am I just totally missing something?
