Hey guys,

I'm looking to build my mom a new computer, the budget is about 500. Her computer now is about 5-8 years old so just about anything will be an upgrade, but I want something worth every penny.

I was leaning towards AMD because I wasn't really interested in a discrete graphics card and I really like the stats on their A6 5400k.

However I'm open to anything.

Her usage would be Microsoft office, web browsing, some video games such as sims, and YouTube. I would like her to be able to watch videos in 1080p.

I do not have anything so everything will need to be included monitor, OS, etc.

Location :US.

$500 with monitor *AND* OS? I don't think that's going to happen especially if you want to get any sort of decent system. Especially with HD and RAM prices the way they are now. Maybe try this:
