Can't format my HDD Drive

Hey guys, this is probably a very dumb question, but I cannot format a new Hard-drive I got (currently i'm booting of an SSD), when I right click on the disk to format the option isn't available. So basically i'm a little lost and thought i'd ask the great toms-hardware community.

A new internal hard drive is usually supplied without any partitions on it. You have to create at least one partition or volume on it before you can format it. In Disk Management, right-click on that drive ribbon and choose "Create new simple volume".

That will take only a few seconds. Then right-click that new volume and choose "Format".
Formatting will take considerably longer, depending on the partition size.
