is it safe to put the wifi router off everytime i dont use it t

It's quite safe but it won't overheat or cost a fortune in electricity if you leave it on. If it's off for some time, in the UK at least, your ISP will assume you don't use it enough and start handing out your bandwidth to your neighbours and it could be very slow when you next need it.
