Hey title mostly says what this is about, after having a good look into some thngs on my psu/gpu as the gpu is making a weird noise, I stumbled into a baffling discovery.
Looking on the box for my gtx 550ti cyclone ii I realise it states "minimum 400w psu with min 12 v current rating of 24a" all we'll and good, now I check the back of my psu box, ac input 12 v v1 and 12 v v2, no idea what the v1/2 are, but under this in a separate box is the Ampage as far as I'm aware, 18a under each. What does this mean exactly.

Psu is a power station 500w tax modular power supply.

that means your psu has multiple 12v rails and they collectively output 18+18=36 amps/432 watts on the 12v rail which is enough to run even a gtx670/hd7950, So you should be good.

There are 2 12v rails, but my gpu uses 1 of those, each 1 is only 18amps, the gpu requires 24. Does this mean if the other 12v rail is not in use the current goes through the one currently in use?, also what's the v1 and v2?

How do you know your gpu uses 1 of those? Those psus are designed in a way that they automatically use both 12rails whenever in need of power (those 2 rails would power up your entire system together, mobo, cpu, gpu, drives etc). V1 and V2 are just a naming process Power station used to name those 12v rails.

I think I got a bit confused, as there is only 1 6 pin connector in the psu that is the gpu, so basicly it makes it so the other idle 12v rail send all energy down to the one currently in use?

yes the 6pin pci express power connector can draw its power from both of these 12v rails.
