My wife is going to be coming over from the UK for good soon and I want to build her a simple machine keep her from hogging mine as she did on her last few visits.

I'm sure she will do some gaming but its going to be very light. The only games she is going to want to play are Sims 3, Sonic 4 ep 1 & 2 PvZ, Angry Birds games, Bejeweled 3,my the 8-early 32 bit emulators (up to ps1) and whatever little cutesy 2d games she finds on steam

Aside from that, this is going to be a simple machine for ms office, video Skype to her fam back in the UK, browsing of course, and full 1080p playback of mkv files.

Will the system listed below take care of this? She's not going to suddenly want to play BF3 or Crysis so an I5 and an HD 7XXX are not needed. I'm mostly concerned about the ability to play sims 3 and the sonic games. Any info helps. Thanks

Whats the point of spending the extra money (about $4) on faster ram in this case? As I said she's not going to be playing any games that require high performance parts. Don't think basic day to day use needs 1866

The A8 you recommended shaved about $7 off the build but are there any benches with sims 3 running on the A8 with no GPU?

As lowly as the 6570 is, its still enough for her to play Sonic 4 and Sims 3. Can the same be said for this apu alone?

The gpu on the apu is a 7650D, it should be about the same performance, faster ram will improve in gaming with apu and also in other tasks, since the amd apu is more sensible to the ram, unfortunatly the prices of the ram went up, i would try to get the crucial ram.

I'll look to see if i can find some benches for the 7650D. Comp would just seem strange with no gpu, but if the benches show it can handle it, i'll go with the A8 and no gpu

I'm aware of that. Just saying it seems strange without a discreet card in the machine. As far as the trying and upgrading card later, that's kinda the reason for my op.

I want to keep the cost as low as possible. Getting the A8 and having to get the 6570 on top of that if the onboard gpu is not up to par would make me mad as I don't want to spend over $350 or so knowing that the sims 3 is the most taxing thing the rig will ever see.
