Lost partition after instalation

Please help !!!
i have a 250 GB maxtor HD split betwen 2 partition C and D but when i reinstaled the OS on partition C i lost my D partition and cant find it anywhere
Does anyone know what could be the problem and how can i fix it preferably to not loose my data from the D partition ?

You could try firing up "Disk Management", to fix it.
Open a command prompt ("Run"), and type in DISKMGMT.msc from the administrative windows account.
Then it is possible to recreate A partition by right-clicking in the blank area of the disk-map, and partitioning it; but, that will definitely wipe out anything that used to be there.

Thanks for the answere but disk manager can't see the partition either .
Solved in another way , I went into control panel , wrote hard disk into the search box and found my hard disk with mouth partitions there , the D partition lost somehow the letter so it was unnamed . I renamed it and now is working properly and no data loss
