Hey everyone,

I have a build underway utilising an ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0 and an FX-8320 (will overclock, have Hyper 212 EVO). I need to get this thing up and running in the next couple of days as I am using it to perform genomic analysis bits and pieces for my thesis (my old rig wasn't up to the task). As such, I am not in a position to order things online, my local PC store 'MSY' tends to beat out most online retailers in Australia anyhow. I really just need to find a decent 16Gb kit among those they have in stock and get to work - 16Gb being necessary as some of my scripts write to RAM and my data sets are enormous (whole human genomes).

On hand they have the following:

Patriot Viper http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9420

G.Skill Sniper http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=10151

G.Skill Ripjaws X http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=10149

Patriot IEM Blue http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=10206

These all come in at ~$130 Australian or less, which is about what I have left to spend.

Any thoughts on what may suit me best?

All 3 kits are very good. which color do you like best? :p

Personally I prefer G-Skill to Patriot, but they are both great brands, with excellent records. All 3 kits also have pretty much identical specifications, so it really comes down to which brand / look do you like best. You really can't choose wrong out of those 4.

The Patriot IEM blue's will match your MB ;)

Thanks itzdanielp, if the specs are nearly the same for each I'll take a look at which fits best under the cooler I want to use and go from there.
