i5-3570k goes to 70% load for no reason?

I was surfing the web and started to hear my CPU fan ramp up. I checked my programs and processes and there was nothing that would make a i5-3570k at 4.5@ go up to 70% load.

The only thing that is running is a file that I am copying from a flash drive.

Help?

EDIT: The file finished copying, Still at 70%

EDIT: Restarted windows. Problem stopped. What could it have been?

Computers NEED to be shutdown/restarted sometimes. could just be some windows process got stuck and needed to be restarted.

Theres always a reason.
Did you check the box to show all user processes? If so and you didnt see anything then I would suggest you have a virus though I suspect it was more along the lines of your antivirus scanning the new file and/or flash drive.

Yup, Checked it through and through. Nothing was using more than 10mb of ram and nothing was using my CPU by more than 1%

Dunno. It hasn't happened again so I guess I'm fine.
