OCing AMD FX-4100

I would like to overclock my AMD FX-4100, but I've never overclocked anything before. Ever. I'd like to play it safe and not push it, but I do want a noticeable change in performance. What should I make sure to do, and what are some safe speeds?
My build:
AMD Radeon HD 7700
8GB of 1333mhz DDR3 RAM (2 4GB sticks, not sure what kind... I know that's stupid)
Cooler Master Hyper 101 CPU cooler
650w Earthwatts PSU ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371044 )
Asus M5A97 mobo
If anyone could help with overclocking the video card with GPU tweak, I'd appreciate that too. If you need any more information or questions please ask.

Well I went ahead and used AMD Overdrive, seems to have worked, stable at 4.2 ghz, I ran Prime95 for 2 hours and I'm going to run it overnight to be sure. Only at 42c, so I may try for 4.5.
Edit: Just kidding Overdrive only goes up to 4.3, so I'll try it in the bios tomorrow. From what I've read that seems to be safer anyways.
