ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II running extremely hot

I purchased this card a while back and had to send it back for repairs they sent back new one and this runs a lot hotter than the last one the first one ran at 65c oced to 1100 mhz and at 100% load. now the new one i got with the same settings and everything else the same runs between 90-98 c which is a lot hotter so leave me to think there mite be something wrong with it especially as if i put my hand near the exhaust it does not feel like 90c however if i touch the metal plate on the back that cover the circuit board it burns and feels extremely hot.

Means the cooler isn't contacting properly, just return it.

I thought as much but I really don't want to send it back as i really cba waiting another month to get it back. i mite try repairing it myself first but don't want to encase I void warranty.

Then return it, its pretty risky having no warranty on something that expensive.
