I have had a setup with the modem --> D-link gaming lounge router -->xbox and computer. I just got time warner installed with cable internet, so now I have a new modem (ARRIS TG862) with the same exact setup, and the inter will not work through the router. I can plug the xbox or computer in directly from the router, and it works fine. But; when I plug the ethernet cord into the right slot of the router from the modem, then plug in the computer and/or xbox with 1 or 2 ethernet cords from the router, it all connect well I can connect to the router, but no internet. The router even has the wlan light on and the internet light. No matter what I did I couldn't fix it. I rebooted both the modem and router many times, varying when i reset them, same time, one before another, I even hard reset them both restored the router to factory settings. Still cant figure it out.

That's with the internet plugged in straight from the modem, no router.

have you tried changing the LAN IP of the D-Link router? set it to 192.168.5.1 and see if it connects then.

right now the d-link and the arris both use the same IP scheme.

the d-link does not lnow what to do since the WAN and the LAN have the same IP scheme.
