I know how to block a site with the host files but kids keep getting to facebook and twitter.
So let me explain the computer set up.
These are school computers,
-no ulr bar in the browser
-no right click
-no ‘start’ button menu
-only the school webpage and a few links
-hyperlinks are blocked through the registry already so no using Microsoft word to get a site

So does any one know how to block the sites from the registry? Or through hosts in such a way that any site with ‘facebook’ in it will not work?

My guess is you are using Internet Explorer? Have you tried using the Content Advisor feature under Internet Options --> Content Tab? It can be used to explicitly allow or blow access to domains. Also, only an account w/ Admin can adjust this feature, so the kiddies shouldn't be able to modify.

Link for instructions.
