Greetings Maestros!

On an oldish (5-8 years old) desktop PC a Win XP runs, but its reinstall is needed.

Not any driver disc is available, and heard that some hard disk controllers (perhaps SATA and IDE) sometimes won't be recognized by Win XP during install.

Should / can I backup any HDD or Bus controller drivers with a program (e.g.: driver max, driver genius, driver checker) and copy them to a floppy, to use it - via F6 key - during install?

What if the desktop PC doesn't have a floppy driver?

(These programs hopefully can backup and restore the Net card driver, too.
After restoring it, I will have access to Net for other drivers.)

Do you know about any other dubious thingy to consider for a successful XP installation?
Hope, I don't have to look into the PC's physical cards, removing the computer case...

Thanx, bye.

Usually ACHI Sate controllers won't be recognized. Go to the bios and change that to IDE Sata. Just partition the drive and put the driver back up on the partition. Then reinstall windows on the new partition.
