OCZ 600w PSU unable to power Sapphire 7950?

I upgraded my graphics card recently to the HD7950 Vapor-X and its been working fine with my Corsair 500w psu.

However I decided to upgrade my PSU to an OcZ modXstream pro 600w jobby as along with graphics card, Ivy 3770k and couple of hard drives I know 500w is pushing things a bit, especially if I want to do some mild overclocking in the future.

So I plugged everything up and connected both the 6 pin pci-e cables into the 7950 and when I hit the power button everything whirred to life but nothing showed up on my display.

I've gone back to my Corsair for now, which just to note connects into the graphics card with 2x8 pin cables although a few google searches told me that 2x6 should be a viable configuration.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Might be a silly question; but is the GPU seated in the PCIe slot properly/completely?

Lots of mobos have a 4 pin connecter near the CPU socket, and if that's not hooked up the computer will just light up and spin the fans.
