First off i have never OC a cpu. (successfully) But i do not think that it is something that i cant get the hang of. I read some posts and guides a while back but after making changes in bios it would never carry over and CPU-Z read stock speeds. If anyone can give a somewhat detailed guide to over OC my 3570k i would appreciate it. I feel the purchase is unjustified leaving it at stock. specs are as follows.

MB - ASRock Extreme4 Gen3
CPU- i5-3570k
RAM- AMD performance edition 8gb
GPU- MSI 660ti PE
PSU- XFX Core Edition pro550w
CPU FAN - XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283

Thanks for reading and thanks for any help that you can offer.

First, go into the BIOS. Disable Turbo Boost, EIST, all C-States, CPU thermal monitor. Bump your multiplier up to 45, and then set your voltage to 1.300, leave your PLL on AUTO, then save and exit the BIOS.

My BIOS is different that yours because I have a Gigabyte board so I can't tell you exactly where to go. This is EXACTLY way I have my 3570k overclocked. This way your CPU will stay at 4.5Ghz. To me, it's the best way to do it, and a lot of others think so as well.

Your going to wanna test this overclock out with about 75 passes of Intel Burn In Test on Very High. If it fails, your not stable you need to raise the voltage. You'll also need a fairy decent cooler to go up to 4.5Ghz.

Let me know how it turns out.

If CPUz still doesn't "see" your overclock, then try going back into your BIOS and see if all your settings are still the same that you overclocked them too. If they are the same, then that means your still overclocked and maybe you need to download an updated version of CPUz.

Oh yeah, there going to have something that says something like: CPU Core Enabled-..... and your going to have to select AUTO or 4. I think that's kind of obvious though.

Muliplier reads x45 in cpu-z and core clock is 4500MHz on CPU-Z. CPU temp is at 32C. Does that seem right?

Update - after running intel burn test 20 times my cpu 0 temp got up to 73C with a little flame by it. i put the stress level on high. does that seem ok as well
