Samsung 840 pro vs 840, for the money

I can get the samsung 840 pro for $239 (256 GB), or the regular 840 for $170 (256GB).

Is the extra performance in the 840 pro worth the extra money?

I will be putting it into a gaming/editing desktop rig I plan on building.

I myself prefer MLC rather than a TLC-based SSD, so If you can afford get yourself the Pro version, if not, then a better alternative is the Crucial m4.

I opted for the even faster 512GB 840 for $40 more than the 256 Pro. $40 for an extra 256GB was to hard to pass up. So far so good, no issues to report.
