Approximate Purchase Date:
Next month, a CD in the bank of mine matures. I plan to use that.

Budget Range:
My budget is ~$2,000. But I'd love to stay as "budget" as possible. I don't want to spend extra money on overkill gold-plated Corsair fanboy products.

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
It'll be for college use. So I'd like the components to perform well the next 3-4 years.

I do play a few games, but nothing hardcore like BF3 or Crysis. I mostly play Minecraft & Crossfire; though I'd love to get 100+ FPS in them on high settings.

Maybe some FRAPS & Sony Vegas editing as well of my 15 year old self comes out.

College use is mostly multiple databases streaming and multiple excel projects open.

Are you buying a monitor:
Yes. I'd like a display large enough so I don't have to squint to read text on forums but I'd also like good response time for FPS games. One 27" monitor seems fine but if you can convince me a dual-monitor setup is better for my use, go ahead and sell me the idea.

Parts to Upgrade:
Everything. I don't even have a mouse or keyboard. I'd prefer a Cherry Red mechanical keyboard and whichever wireless/Bluetooth mouse is best.

Do you need to buy OS:
A OEM Win8 version is what I want.

Preferred Website(s):
Newegg & Tiger Direct

Location: City, State/Region, Country:
Virginia, USA

Parts Preferences:
Being built around an i5 3570K seems nice. Unless the Haswell AMD is worth the wait.

Overclocking?:
Maybe. But not 24/7.

SLI or Crossfire:
Don't really know the difference. If its related to the GPU, I only really want one.

Your Monitor Resolution:
Would like 1920x1080. Or a 1920x1200 IPS Panel if they perform well for gaming.

Additional Comments:
I'd like a low profile case. Nothing that screams it should belong in a 12 year old's "battle station."

I'm looking for something that's built for the future. I'm not interested in upgrading ____ every 6 months.

If any questions about something particular, I reply pretty fast.

A thing to add; I want a 256GB SSD. Preferably by Crucial M4 or Samsung Pro.

I'm not much of a torrent hoarder or anything. Having xTB HDDs would be pointless.

Few things. I'm not much of an expert but an i7 for my needs seems like overkill. And I'd really prefer a name brand monitor. I've bought these lower tier brands before and had problems with dead pixels.
