I have a rather lengthy Windows 8-concerned question. I'm building a new PC very soon, and I'd prefer, if at all possible, not to pay for another copy of Windows.
I've had a Windows 7 laptop for the last two years, and I've recently bought a Windows 8 pro upgrade for it (at least, I think it was an upgrade -- it doesn't actually say "upgrade" on the box). I put the Windows 8 system on the laptop, but I did not like the interface for what I used the laptop for at all, so I restored it to Windows 7. As the Windows 8 key that I got when I bought Windows 8 is no longer in use on a system, will I be able to install it onto my new PC build, or is it forever tied to my laptop's motherboard?
Sorry if this is an obvious question, but Windows is not my area of expertise.
