( i havn't bought anything yet)

my build is

Intel core i5 3570k
ASRock z77 extreme6
corsair vengeance 8 GB low profile ram
Noctua nh-c14
corsair TX 650W or 750W psu
MSI Geforce gtx660 Ti PE OC 2GB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB hard drive
Samsung 840 120GB SSD
IHAS524 DVDRW
Bitfenix Shinobi
windows 8 64 bit
and 5 enermax clusters

Don't plan to be increasing its price by too much more. decreasing would be great but it still has to run some what near to this build

do you have any comments?

i'd love to hear any improvements or faults in it.
also would be even more of a plus if you can suggest me another component

Get rid of windows 8... would be an improvement. Haha Just kidding, I think I am getting used to it on my laptop.

But to answer your question. What do you want to do with your computer?

well i play non demanding games like tf2 and dota 2 and lol, that said i play it competitively to an extent. um i know i'm seriously overdoing the build but what i'm hope for is that i don't have to upgrade or really change anything for at least 4 years.

Thanks for the quick reply btw

You have pretty good parts. I'd say just get a better gfx card and get a SSD and get windows 7!!
everything else should be fine. and as for your gtx card, just put it into your 2nd pci-e slot if you have one, and use as an external monitor for different uses. No need to SLI it cause it usually causes problems if not set up right.

i have a ssd and wanna try windows 8 but i don't think i need a better graphics card because i'm not going to be like playing crysis 3 ultra everything and like exploding my computer

and i don't get " for your gtx card, just put it into your 2nd pci-e slot if you have one, and use as an external monitor for different uses." whats the difference between using the 1st pci-3 16x slot?

If you're not going to be using it for gaming then your build is fine. I was just suggesting to get another graphics card and and have a dual gfx card set up, not particularly sli or crossfire, but just to be able to run more monitors if you'd like. other then that then you'll be fine with what you chose.

i will be gaming but it isn't the games arnt very demanding. games like tf2 and dota 2
and whats the point of having dual graphics card without sli (besides having more monitors)

Edit:
i did a bit of research and am i right to say that getting 2 graphics is to get a primary and secondary graphics card but i'm not even sure what that does. I read something about Physx too does that increase your fps by decreasing the load of work on the cpu?
and do the gfx cards have to be the same if i am running dual gfx cards sli or not

1 more thing can you suggest a card?
would a geforce gt 630 be sufficient? (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_876&products_id=22459)

i don't see how i can be that bad

but i now it seems it'll be simpler to just do windows 7
thanks

Yes the GT 630 will do with moderate gaming like tf2. A bit laggy for games like Battlefield 3.

and as for the dual gfx cards. Without crossfire or sli it is used to run dual monitors with it's own gfx cards, acting on its own per screen, but with the xfire or sli you would need to research which cards are compatible for it.
For example not all radeons with xfire capabilities can run with each other. and if you do, it's true it'll put on less load, for example physx, but note that if one graphics card is higher in speeds it will try to match with the slower card, to be able to work together. so it WILL slow down for the slower card. so it's best to get the same cards, or get one GOOD card.

Xfire and sli has been known to cause a lot of problems, and not all games can support xfire, and when new games come out drivers to be able to support xfire/sli come a bit later.

yea people tell me that i should avoid xfire and sli as it sometimes has bugs and stuff but i'm interested in having 2 graphics cards

i have dual monitors
would it be smart to run a 660ti on my main for games and higher demanding things and a simple card possibly the gt 630 for my secondary monitor for facebook, youtube or just on websites

*note i may get BF4 would a evga 660 ti FTW signature be sufficient?

That's what I'm doing right now, running two cards without sli/crossfire. And yes use the better card for the screen you're going to game on, and the 2nd one for casual browsing. and a 660ti would definitely be suffiecient, I have a old 5770 thats about $100, and it gets 50 fps (its slightly overclocked)

i dunno
i'm kinda nvidia guy because the laptop i'm using is nvidia and it's 6 years old lenovo notebook and still running
as well as knowing nvidia is a reliable brand web sites such as
http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=664&card2=670
show me that nvidia is a stronger pick

The geforce 660 ti has around 100mhz more clock speed than pretty much all the 7950's
but the 7950's has 3 gb of memory

could you please explain if it's worth to drop 100mhz for 1 gb more memory
or dropping 1gb of memory for 100mhz more clock speed?

Thanks alot for your help i'll definitly take it to consideration when buying graphics cards!

another person says 7950 over 660 ti yes no?

i did a little research and found that The geforce 660 ti has around 100mhz more clock speed than pretty much all the 7950's
but the 7950's has 3 gb of memory on most cards

could you please explain if it's worth to drop 100mhz for 1 gb more memory
or dropping 1gb of memory for 100mhz more clock speed?

hmm well reviews support you i'll go for the 7950. could you suggest a card i'm looking at the xfx card caught my eye because it looks sleek lol but either way it seems to be up there with the sapphire cards

In the conversation above with andy he's managed to convince me of buying a secondary card would you support that? if so is there a card you could suggest?

and also would it would to use a nvidia card to use on the same mother board (obviously not to sli or xfire)

btw thanks for the quick replies

theres no point. its dumb. waste of power.

get this 7950. better and cheaper than the xfx model

I'd say to get the 7950, 1gb of memory is better than 100mhz more clock speed imo because you won't notice a 100mhz more clock speed. And that extra 1gb will make it easier on your graphics, make it stable and able to support more intensive games using mxaa or the anti filters 2x 4x 8x etc. plus if you have more monitors you can hook it onto the same gfx card. and it'd be able to support 2 monitors no problem.

OK

hi again you guys

still here...

any opinions on this build?

Fractal design arc Midi r2
Msi Z77A-GD645
Intel core i5 3570K
Seagate Barracuda 1TB hhd
Samsung 840 series 120GB ssd
G. SKILL sniper series 8gb 2133
corsair h100i
Sapphite Vapor-X 7950 3GB
OCZ Z series 850W 80 plus GOLD
LITE-On dvd burner
TP-LINK n900 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps

one thing i'd like to point out is that the mother board states its memory is
"DDR3 3000*(OC)/2800*(OC)/2600*(OC)/2400*(OC) MHz"
so i'm not sure if i have to get those specific mhz ram or i can just get any other type

-the asus z77-v LK is cheaper and better
-the m5s from plextor is cheaper, faster, and more durable
-fast ram is useless. forget it
-get rid of cheap liquid cooling. heatsink or custom WC. thats about the only choices that are reliable and worth the cash

was considering custom WC but i'm first time pc builder should i go for it? and i would have expected custom wc to be super expensive as well

also wondering if the asus maximus V gene is good some one suggested it. it looks either really good or a gimmick. any comments?

im saying dont bother with cheap closed loop coolers (all the liquid coolers). get a heatsink like this instead
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709020&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-CPU%20Cooling-_-Phanteks%20Company-_-35709020&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=3938566&SID=

its good but its a gimmick.
