Dual HD7770 or Single HD7950

I've got a 3 year old home built computer that I need to upgrade a few parts on. Here's the current config:

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Intel X58
Processor: Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.8GHz
Memory: OCZ Titanium 8GB DDR3 Memory
PS: XFX 750W Black Edition

Current Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD5830 w/ 1GB DDR5

I have the option of either going to two Radeon HD7770 Crossfired or a single HD7950. Wanted to get some input on which way to go.

The computer is mostly an engineering machine used to run Finite Element and Solid Modeling, but I also game with it as well.

For sure the 7950. games that support the crossfire run not quite as good but close to 7950 but games that dont the 7950 destroys the crossfire setup

Sounds good. Didn't realize there were so many issues with CF. Thanks for the input.
