I was wondering whether this combination would work? I need to get a silent PC case and I am torn between the Fractal R4 and the Corsair 550D. I would prefer the R4 however I am not sure if it can take the H60.

Thanks!

The h60 certainly won't be silent no matter what case you get

How about getting a Hyper 212 instead? Way better performance to price ratio if you ask me... Anyways yes it can. I would prefer the Define R4 any day hands down. Uses real sound dampening material. Way better design in the hard drive cages. Awesome build quality. Great cable management. Lots of room for even the biggest components and it's cheaper than the 550D. Generally I like the features more than what comes with the 550d.

Thanks for the reply. On the Hyper 212 is it possible to change the fan? I was planning to change the H60's fan to an SP120 to keep it quiet.

Yes it is. I would recommend a different fan for your H60 though. The SP120 uses a circular frame which, when used on radiators and heat sinks, allows air to leak through the corners. On a square frame fan this possibility is eliminated. I suggest a Noctua F12 PWM for roughly t he same price. Extremely silent and effective.

Great. Thanks for the advice! I will probably get a Hyper212 and install a more silent fan onto it.

The fan it comes with is EXTREMELY SILENT. Being a silent freak I cannot hear this thing at all. It is one of the best fans that comes with a heat sink.

Heads up! The mounting brackets for fans on the Hyper 212 EVO will NOT work with the Corsair SP120 Quiet fan.
The brackets require the innermost hole in the corner of the fan to be accessible from between the two holes (if that makes sense).
I have the Hyper 212 and am using it with Fractal Design Silent Series 120mm fan, and it works great :)

Yes, it needs to be a square framed fan. Why are you using it with that Fractal fan, TjobStickz? Those fans are terrible let alone using them for you heat sink. What are your temps in Celsius?

I should specify that i am using push/pull setup on my Hyper 212. The stock fan as push, and the fractal design fan as pull. Right now running BF3 my 2500K is around 45 degrees celcius.

Never mind then, I thought you were using one fan, the Fractal one as push/pull. :p
