I have a new Dell XPS 8500 with a 1 TB HDD. I plan on installing a 256 GB SSD as the boot c drive and relegating the 1 TB HDD to the d drive. I have a Dell Win 8 Recovery Media disk and Dell Driver disk. I also made system restore disks using the system.
Should I install the os and drivers from these disks or can I copy the contents of the 1 TB HHD to the SSD using something like EaseUS Disk copy. Or is there a better cloning program that would simply copy the current OS?

Solution
I recommend fresh install the win8 to the SSD, in this way you have less un-want dell programs on your SSD. And make sure the storage mode is AHCI mode in the BIOS.
If you do clone then you will clone all the data into the SSD.
