Slow USB 3 Performance?

Hello i Just finished building my new rig. I noticed the performance on the USB transfer speed seems a bit slow. I am not sure how fast is this supposed to be but with this hardware i was hoping a 6 GB file to take less than 10 min when transferred from my Hard drive into a USB thumb drive.

The file being transferred was a 6gb video, transfering at 7 - 8 mb/s according to windows 8.

My question is, is this normal? or is it a bit slow.

are the USB3 drivers installed?

is the flash drive a USB3 thumb drive?

is it plugged into the USB3 port?

what kind of flash drive do you have?

I think i figured out,

after reading some reviews of the thumb drive that i am using, by the way it came free with my case. It looks like it is super slow.
