Question about using a crossfire motherboard

I am planning to start building a budget gaming pc soon and I noticed that the motherboard I chose to use is a crossfire motherboard. I was only planning to use one graphics card so I wanted to know if that will be ok or if I have to use two graphics cards for it to work?

You can crossfire, but at 16x/4x, not to mention the cards will be pretty close to each other, depending on the cards i wouldn't recommend crossfire on such boards.
