Yesterday I got my new Core i5 3550p, and after installing it to my motherboard and when I turned it on when it got to the Windows 7 boot screen it froze and BSOD'ed for a split second and rebooted giving me the same error until I turn off the PC. Even when I try to boot the Ubuntu CD I get a similar error. I reinstalled my old G555 Celeron and it Windows 7 and Ubuntu worked fine. My first guess is that I need a new PSU.

Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LX PLUS R2.0 LGA1155
CPU: Core i5 3550p LGA 1155 3.1Ghz with 3.3 Turbo Boost

CD/DVD: ASUS 24X DVD Burner
PSU: 450W

sometimes it gets to bios but set the wrong parameters for the CPU, maybe you should go to bios setup to check your system information

Well it should show your CPU's name and model, speed, multiplier, stepping
Then while checking that look for hardware monitor and check the temperature of the CPU to rule out overheating.

It has EZ Flash and I don't want to have to install the Celeron clean the heat-sink and i5 and re-install the Core i5 and clean the Celeron.

My uncle diagnosed the problem and said the CPU was defective, and Newegg won't give me a full refund for the CPU. I'm just gonna buy another Core i5 from a vendor with a full refund policy.

I don't have another LGA1155 Motherboard. If anything I only have 1. Just to be safe I'm thinking of getting a different i5 model.
