I'm planning on making a build with a Gigabyte HD 7970 (non-GHz edition), and I'm not sure if my power supply can handle it. I'm currently planning on using an XFX Core Edition Pro550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013. As this is the minimum voltage that AMD states should be used, I was thinking about upgrading the PSU to something like Corsair's Professional 650W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012, but it is a little expensive... Does anyone have any suggestions about a PSU that will handle it that is cheaper, or should I stick it out and go with the Corsair PSU? Thank you!

CPU - i5-3570k
Cooler - Hyper 212 plus/EVO
Motherboard - ASrock Extreme4
GPU - Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970
Memory - 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
Case - NZXT Phantom 410

Thank you! I'll probably go with that, you just saved me a bit of $$$ :D

EDIT: What about the XFX Core Edition Pro 650W, which is a little bit cheaper?

OK, thank you!

Hi - a couple of things:
The XFX 550 is more than sufficient for your system. It has more than enough
+12v rail amps than you need. No harm in getting a 650w unit, but not needed.

Secondly, I wouldn't consider the Corsair 650 to be better than the XFX 650.
The XFX is probably a little better. I would opt for a Seasonic built unit (xfx)
to a delta unit (tx650)

Thanks! I'll probably research all of these and try to make the best choice I can - I appreciate all of your responses!
