Looking to upgrade cpu ! Help required

Hi I have a Foxxconn Motherboard (cpuz reports it as ) 45GM/45CM

Its a fairly old board now but wondering whats the fastest processor I could put in it ?

Presently have an Intel Pentium Dual E2140 @ 1.6GHZ sat in it.

I'm guessing i can pick up a cheap cpu upgrade due to its age but unsure as what to look for I have googled and searched but to no avail .
Hope someone more knowledgeable than me can help.

You won't be able to go much more than that pentium dual core...you can go to a pentium d960 if you can find it, but they're discontinued...and will probably be quite expensive relatively. You may be better off buying a new MoBo and a newer CPU...

If you're hung up on intel buy a new MoBo 1155 chipset that's compatible with an i3/i5...

Do you have a budget?

Both of those are about same money...but you get far more bang for your buck with the AMD

Its just an old system ive got sat around that i use for burning and storage but i wanted to hook it up to my tv to play 3d movies and thought the processor may struggle so was debating an upgrade
