Hi guys, building a new rig soon and have a couple of questions. Any advice appreciated.

I currently have a Gainward gtx 570 glh and im quite happy with it, I was thinking of adding another in SLI. To me this seems like the most cost effective graphics upgrade. What do you guys think?

Im thinking of watercooling but.......I dont like the idea of actual water in my pc, has anyone tried mineral oil in a watercooling system?

Going to mount it all in an antique campaign desk, glass topped with computer parts underneath. Lots of lights and such.

Approximate Purchase Date: Late April (tax return!)

I am in the UK.

Budget Range: £1000+ i can afford more but would rather not spend it but if the returns are there i could go to 1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Guitar rig 5, Music production, web surfing, Music/movies

Are you buying a monitor: Maybe, im quite happy with mine ATM. 1920x1080.

Parts to Upgrade:

Cpu- pretty set on 3570k but open to suggestions
MB- not sure yet, suggestions? Would like firewire for future proofing, good overclocking
Ram- ballistix tactical tracers, yay pretty lights.
GPU- Thinking of adding another 570
ssd- Samsung 840
HDD- 3x1tb 7200rpm most likely barracudas
Power supply- Will decide when i now what wattage i need but i would like an efficient one, gold plus etc.
OS- Win 7

Sorry if that was a long post, thanks for your time.

Surprisingly, when people refer to water-cooling they really mean water has to be in it
Mineral oil has been used as a cooling solution before, but only when its the complete immersion of the rig.

If you want water-cooling, you have to use water. All other liquids (except Mercury) has a lower thermal capacity, leading to worse cooling.

This sticky will explain a lot of the information and concepts of water-cooling. I suggest reading it a few times, takes a while for everything to click together.
