I just put Windows xp on a pc for a friend.
I click 'start'..'search'.
I can see the little dog, but there is nothing above it, just blue
There is no writing, just the doggy in a blue oblong.
Funny!
Any idea howi can fix it?

Cheers

Thank you TenPc.
So, on your windows xp, when you click on 'start'~'search' the little dog is there, with no writing just above it,and you have to click dog to start search?
On my windows xp, when i click'start'~search', there is the little dog with writing already above it, with the title "What do you want to search for?"
But on the xp i installed on my friends pc, there is no writing above the dog.
Cheers

Funnily enough, I just checked my XP PC and I don't have the little doggy feature, I even checked Search Assistant in Help but got no results.

I do recall that feature, though, and it was really annoying.

If you do not have Search option enabled in the Start Menu then right click the Start men area > properties > Start Menu then select the Search option to enable the shortcut link.
