Unstabel storage (Perc 5i)

ESXi 5.1.0 with Perc 5/i (battery is not installed yet).



ESXi is boot from a CF card.
I have a RAID1 with two 1TB disc (system disc where I have located the VM`s).



I installed ESXi and created four virtuell machines for testing the VM`S is located on the RAID1 array.
Everything worked great, but not top performance sine I don`t have battery yet on the raid controller.



Suddenly today after 20-30 hours after I installed ESXi, have I got some problems I don`t understand.



1. When I try to open console on the VM`s i only got a error saying that the config file not exisst or something...
2. When I checked under Health status the Perc 5i controller was not listed any longer...
3. I tried to restartt the computer and now the Perc 5i controller is listed under Health Status and the raid is OPTIMAL. However the virtuels machines have now got status name (inaccessible.)
If I check the log files after I tried to open the the virtuell machine is this listed "Configuration file for unknown 1 cannot be found".
4. The storage is not listed any longer under summary where all storage shall show. When I try to created a storage on the erray I only got a error (properly because is already a partition their?).

Here can you see that the Array is showing 931 Gigabye (3,64 TB Array, have I detached just for test)

I can add that this has happend two days ago also, I deleted the arrays on the RAID and reinstalled ESXi,
and then reinstalled evertything. Now the same problem is back explained above.




Firmversion is Dell 5.2.2
00_37_V0_04_SMIS_VMware_Installer (LSI VIB to get health status from Perc 5i in ESXi)




Anybody have some Idea? Can the reason be that I don`t have battery installed?

tried to downgrade the firmware to 5.2.1 and also done the pin mode (blended pin 5 and 6) and reinstall everything. Same thing happens system come up and I startt to create virtuel machine and after 1-2 hours the storage is not avaible.

As you can see the storage is listed in summary, but is it not avaible if try to start a virtuel machine it says that the config file not exsist.

Raid is showting as OPTIMAL in the raid bios.

So for some reason is the raid array lost for ESXi and this have happend three times now (I have tried to reinstall everyting three times).

I have big problem to understand what the problem is.
