a4-5300 or a8-3870k htpc

Friend of mine was offered a trade, a a4-5300 and a msi FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard for a a8-3870k and a Gigabyte GA-A75M-S2V.

Not sure what he should do, it's for a htpc so the a4 would use lower wattage and provide a good enough 1080p output, he'd also gain hdmi output from the motherboard and a newer socket motherboard. But $$ wise, the a8-3870k combo is worth much more.

Some other information, he paid 130$ or so for the gigabyte motherboard and a8-3870k in a deal. I looked and a a4-5300 and msi board fetches around 90$. So this is worth considering.
