Help with net

I'm useing a dongel and it's useing twice the data can any1 help I've turned all updates off

I only get 3gig on it and only just a few hours on the net with it it's just eating though the cread n I don't no how to stop it no downloading just been on poker on Facebook 3gig used to last about 3 weeks I thought maybe sumthing was running that I dint no about coz windows 8 is new to me

Take the dongle out when you're not using it.
