Approximate Purchase Date: 2-4 weeks

Budget Range: $1000 max, but the cheaper the better

System Usage: As title says, looking for an all around home entertainment system. From playing movies to playing games to playing some music. This system doesn't have to be able to play all of today's and the next 3 years' games at max settings, but I would like them to look decent. It is meant to be more of a home entertainment system first and gaming second - reflected in the price I think.

Are you buying a monitor: No, plan to hook up to 1080p LCD-LED TV.

Parts to Upgrade: New build

Do you need to buy OS: Possible to get away with using Linux for this system? If not, then yes I will need new OS. Have never used Linux, but if it's possible for this build I am open to it.

Preferred Website for Parts: Newegg.

Location: Chicago, IL

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU/NVIDIA GPU, but open to others.

Overclocking: Prefer not to.

SLI or Crossfire: Prefer to keep the case small, so most likely no.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 TV

Additional Comments: I have read that it is possible to use XBox controllers w/PC, but this is not necessary. I am looking to be able to play some games on the couch w/a controller, then flip right over and browse the internet, turn on music, watch a movie, etc.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Ditched the 3 year old PC and looking to build something new to hook up to TV.
