Yesterday evening I started experiencing connection issues with my laptop's wireless connection to the internet, it had become very slow to connect to the router spending a lot of time at the identifying stage whereas previously the connection was instant.

Today it takes even longer to connect to the router; however, once connected I get no response from the internet when trying to load pages or when pinging them from the cmd. Eventually an error message appears saying that the browser could not connect to the internet even though the Network and Sharing Centre says that I am connected. All other computers and devices can connect just fine. I have tried searching for hours but I don't know what the problem is exactly and anything I have tried has not worked.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with BT Infinity.

The signal strength is at the maximum possible but on the network map there is a red X between the BT hub and the internet.

Now I don't know that much in this area but so far I have:
- Restored the system to the previous day
- Disabled the firewall
- Disabled the security key for the router
- Tried using a wire connection
- Reset the BT hub
- Used the "Find and fix networking and connection problems" tool
- Tried using "netsh int ip reset" and "netsh winsock reset" (I saw this suggested on other forums)
None of these made a difference.

When I tried to use "ipconfig/release" the next line says "Windows IP Configuration" and then nothing else happens.

This is what I get when pinging the router's IP:

Does anyone have any ideas about what it is that is wrong and how I can fix it? If you need more information please say. Thanks a lot
