HDD Crashed. No Backup. What do?

Hello,

My HDD crashed the other night and I do not have it backed up. I bought a new hard drive along with a new mobo, ram, and processor.

My Question:

Can I use a Windows 7 Recovery/Boot DVD to reinstall my OS? Since I had a license for my OS, is their anything I can do to avoid having to purchase a brand new version of Windows 7?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi

You can use YOUR Recovery dvd to reinstall...not someone elses

As a new MOBO you will have to ring MS to reactivate.... they may allow it or you may have to buy windows again...

I do not have a recovery dvd. My friend built the pc for me with spare parts he/I had so that it was compatible with the New GPU (GTX7650) that i bought. He doesn't have a recovery dvd for me, I already tried that route.
